A Fall Drive up the "North Fork" to Polebridge, Montana
I have said before how beautiful Montana is in the fall. One of my favorite drives in the Flathead Valley (anytime of year, actually), is up the area we refer to as the “North Fork” in northwest Montana. There are few houses, and few people, so you will get lots of beautiful photos!!
This area borders Glacier National Park on one side, with the road leading you up a gravel road from Columbia Falls, past the turn to the Camas Road (that leads into Glacier National Park), and up all of the way to Polebridge, Montana.
You drive along the Flathead River the entire way, with beautiful mountain views that will keep you smiling. This is the “North Fork” of the Flathead River, hence the reason we call this area the “North Fork.” The water is low in the fall (and highest in the spring), making the fall a beautiful time to see how clear the water is.
I wanted to share some photos from a fall drive in October 2013, of the beautiful fall colors. This also happens to be during the 2013 Government Shutdown, so you will see my photos of Glacier National Park being closed.
I hope you enjoy these photos!!! The North Fork is one of my favorite areas!!
