There isn’t much that makes up Apgar, Montana. Except for one of the most beautiful views you will find in the entire world.
Apgar is located two miles from the West Glacier Entrance to Glacier National Park. Apgar is conveniently located right on Lake McDonald, so it is hard to miss on your trip through Glacier.
In Apgar, you will find a couple of gift shops and a Visitor Center for Glacier National Park.
The gift shops offer some cute Montana gifts.
The Visitor Center has helpful staff that can answer your questions and tell you where to go. In the winter, there are free snowshoeing tours that start here.
There are also a few hotels available to rent rooms, one of the hotels is right on McDonald Lake.
You can walk right down from the down to the lake edge, where you can rent boats or hang out on the dock.
The only place to eat in town is Eddie’s, which offers coffee, a restaurant, gift shop, and ice cream around the corner. Click here to read my tips about getting ice cream in Glacier National Park, because the line to get ice cream gets long in the middle of summer.
Parking in town is limited, especially in the middle of the day. Take a right after you drive through the small town, and you will find a few more spots toward the campground by the dock.
There is a campground just down the road from Apgar at Apgar Campground.
Warmest Wishes from Big Sky Country,
