Are dogs allowed in Montana State Parks?

Neill family dogs, Copyright Montana Vacation Blog 2013

If you have a family like ours, information on where and whether dogs are allowed must be known before we can plan a trip!  Although my mom is a great babysitter when we have to leave them behind, we prefer to take them as many places as possible.

Dogs are allowed in most Montana State Parks (on a leash, of course!), EXCEPT the following, where dogs are not allowed at all:

Frenchtown Pond
Wild Horse Island
Smith River (pets are allowed only at the put-in and take-out if they are on leashes, not on the float)
Spring Meadow Lake (no pets during 4/16 – 10/14, pets allowed on leashes during 10/15 – 4/15).

I hope you get to bring your pet on your trip, and that you have a wonderful vacation!

Warmest Wishes from Big Sky Country,

Alex Neill
