Do I Need a Car on my Montana Vacation? Yes!
Are you wondering how to get around while you are visiting the beautiful state of Montana? What kind of transportation options are available to you?
Montana is the fourth largest state in the United States, with only Alaska, Texas, and California ahead of it. This means that things are extremely spread out, and you will need transportation during your stay.
Let’s just say, Montana is not known for its transportation. There really are not many options.
Therefore, you will absolutely need a rental car during your stay.
Of course, an RV or something similar will also do the trick. The point is, if you don’t drive your own vehicle to Montana, plan on renting one to get you around during your stay. There are plenty of options for renting in the larger areas with airports (Kalispell, Bozeman, Missoula, Butte, Helena, Billings, Great Falls).
If you arrive via Amtrak, you can arrange to have rental car companies meet you at the train station and they will take you to their offices to complete a vehicle rental transaction.
Be sure to get a vehicle with unlimited mileage so that you are free to explore this incredibly vast wilderness, and budget in gas money for your trip.
A rental car will not only allow you to get where you want to go, but it allows the freedom to stop and enjoy the sights of Montana, no matter where you end up.
