The hike to Red Rock Falls in Glacier National Park in Montana is an easy, enjoyable hike for the entire family.  Located in the Many Glacier Valley in Glacier, this hike is easy to get to, and well worth the trip!

The Swiftcurrent Pass Trail, Glacier National Park, Montana, Copyright Montana Vacation Blog, http://www.montanavacationblog.com/The hike is just under 2 miles each way, with only a 100-foot elevation gain.  This means the trail is pretty much flat.  There is only a small amount of uphill right at the beginning, I think that is where you gain the entire 100-foot elevation.  It is also a wide trail and easy for small children.

The hike begins near the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, at the very end of the road as you drive into Many Glacier.  Be sure to continue on past the Many Glacier Hotel from the main road (don’t take a left into the hotel), and you will eventually pass the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, and you can park anywhere in their parking lot.

I recommend driving to the far end of the parking lot, as that is where the Swiftcurrent Pass trail begins (this is the trail you are looking for), so this spot is the closest to the trail.

Look for the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail, and begin following this where it begins.  You will follow this trail all of the way to Red Rock Falls, you will just turn around once you reach the falls, unless you want to continue up to Swiftcurrent Pass!

One of the great things about this trail is the fact that you pass two beautiful lakes along the way.  Fisher Cap Lake is the first lake, you will have to walk down to your left from the trail to reach this lake.  It cannot be seen from the trail.  This is a great spot to see MOOSE.  So be sure to take the detour and see if you can catch any!

Just past the lake, you will get spectacular views into the Swiftcurrent Valley, of Grinnell Mountain and Swiftcurrent Headwall.

The bottom of the falls, a nice spot to swim

The Red Rock Falls are a series of falls, that allow for climbing all over the rocks and wading through the water if you so choose.  This is also a wonderful picnic spot before you walk back.  Watch my video on these amazing waterfalls here.

NOTE:  There are a lot of bears in this area!  So be sure to carry bear spray, and make a lot of noise!!
