When does Glacier National Park open for the summer?
I receive a lot of emails asking about Glacier National Park road access, and when visitors will be able to access certain areas of the park in Montana.
Glacier National Park is open every day of the year. This is, of course, with limited access due to the snow during the winter months. You cannot pass over the Going-to-the-Sun Highway year-round. This section of highway is key because it connects Lake McDonald to St. Mary Lake, providing an incredibly beautiful shortcut through the mountains to the east side of the park. The highway opens fully between the east and west side of the park when the snow is cleared — which varies each year. This is usually toward the end of June, beginning of July.
However, even when the Going-to-the-Sun Highway is closed, you can still drive around the park to get access to the east side via US Highway 2 and East Glacier. (Most people are coming from Kalispell or Missoula, as those are the nearest airports.)

Warm wishes from Big Sky Country!
