Whitefish, Montana Christmas Stroll 2012
Visiting Whitefish, Montana, at the beginning of December? You should add the Whitefish Christmas Stroll to your to-do list!
This is a family friendly activity that is fun for everyone. The date changes each year, but the stroll is held in early December in the evening right in downtown Whitefish. The city blocks off the streets and people can walk from store-to-store, enjoying sales and fun! There is lots of food and activities for everyone. Your kids will love it.
There are many street vendors selling fun items and lots of vendors handing out free coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies! Some very friendly people gave us free hot chocolate this year! I couldn’t believe it when I asked how much, and they said, nothing! (You don’t see many things for free these days! 😉 ).
Some of the events held in 2012 included Frozen Turkey Bowling at the Craggy Range Bar and Grill, holiday photos with your pet, photos with Santa, face painting, Gingerbread House Contest, fire pits, wagon rides, fire jugglers, Tree lighting ceremony, Chestnuts Roasting at the Village Shop, among others!! There really is something for everyone, and it lasts for over three hours, so you have plenty of time to see it all.
Our baby slept through most of the night, all bundled up in her stroller. (It was a really cold night!) But she woke up just in time for a few fun pictures with Santa:
And the friendly bear of course!
We also entered our baby into the Red Caboose Frozen Yogurt and Coffee “Ugly Sweater Contest.” She wasn’t exactly wearing an ugly sweater, but the most “likes” on her Facebook and Instagram photos made her the winner!!
In 2012, there also was a raffle held inside the Gingerbread House tent at the south end of the street. You received one raffle ticket for every $10 dollars spent at any store in Whitefish (on food, clothing, anything!), and the drawing was held at the end of the evening. We didn’t win, but there were thousands of dollars in prizes that were given out. If you spend money on this evening, you should definitely take your receipt in and enter!
There also was an awesome fire show put on by WhiteFire of Whitefish, Montana. I believe there were two shows throughout the evening.
Dress warm, it is winter in Montana!!
Let us know if you will be at the Whitefish Christmas Stroll in 2013, we would love to see you!!
Warmest Wishes from Big Sky Country,
